Female Northern Brown Bandicoots have eight teats in their pouch, but litter sizes are usually two to four. They are one of the fastest growing marsupials, with only a twelve day gestation before pouch life begins, then weaning at 60 days old.
With such a short mothering period, females can have several litters throughout the year.
