The diet of the Spectacled Flying Fox consists mainly of fruit and nectar from native rainforest and eucalyptus trees like Melaleuca.
Because of habitat destruction and land clearing for agriculture, Flying Foxes are often found eating non-native cultivated fruits like Mango, PawPaw and Lychees. This often results in retaliation from farmers in the form of electrical grids or nets over their orchards and also shootings.
