The wing of a Flying Fox is often thought to look and feel like leather, but in fact they are very soft and smooth like the skin on your eyelid.
The wings are made up of just two layers of normal skin with the blood vessels and oil gland inbetween.
This thinness is effective for regulating the animals body temprature. During the day, when it's hot, Flying Foxes will flap while hanging in their roosting trees, the motion cools the blood vessels in the wing and then cools the body.
