Bare Rumped Sheathtail Bats are incredibly rare, in Australia they are only found in Far North Queensland and even then, haven't been seen in many years, until recently.

Zac was found at Hartleys Crocodile Park, Palm Cove by one of the keepers and taken to BatReach for rehabilitation. He was successfully rehabilitated and released back at the Park. While in care, it's sonar frequencys were recorded so to help locate others of this species in the area.
Since being recorded, these bats have been discovered, at Hartleys and at the Cairns Botanical Garden. An important development for a species thought to possibly be extinct.
